Rising 6th Grade Orientation
Thursday, July 5th from 4:30 pm-6:30 pm for Tracks 1, 2, and 3
West Lake Middle School will host, PRIDE Camp, which is a 2 hour orientation for our newest rising 6th grade class. This will be a great opportunity for both the students and the parents to become more familiar with West Lake Middle School. The separate student and parent sessions are arranged to ease the transition into middle school prior to the first day.
Students will spend time with their new teachers and get comfortable with the school building. Students will learn about the school’s expectations and procedures. While students are getting acquainted with their new schedules, the parents will have the opportunity to register for the Parent Portal in PowerSchool. The parents will have access to information about the cafeteria, transportation, volunteering, booster club, and the PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association). Student agendas and combination locks (for PE class) will be available for purchase.
PRIDE Camp will give students an opportunity to adjust to the new building without the presence of 7th and 8th grade students. Please do not worry if your child is unable to attend PRIDE Camp. Staff will be available on the first day of school to help these students with their schedules and find their classes.
Should you have any questions regarding the event, please email the 6th grade school assistant principal or counselor.
