Calling All 8th Grade Parents

Hello_Parents8th GRADE GRADUATION DANCE: COMMITTEE LEAD needed now – Time is running out!

WHAT?  The 8th Grade Graduation Dance is a Fantastic West Lake Middle Tradition hosted outside of WLMS.  The event /attire are SEMI-formal and is a celebration of moving from the “younger years” to High School and of the friendships forged over the past 10 years of school.  The Dance is a paid-ticketed event and ALL 8th Graders (Yes, all approximately 350 students!) are individually invited to attend.  This event is only for WLMS 8th Graders and in the spirit of friendship,  “A Date” is not required and certainly not encouraged.  This is not a Home Coming or Prom.

WHERE ? WHEN?  The Dance is held at various venues; for the past 5 years The Dance has been very successfully held at Devils Ridge Country Club.  The Dance has historically been held on the Friday of the first weekend in June to coincide with all 8th Grade Track Graduations.

HOW?  The Dance is COMPLETELY organized, run and financed (via Ticket Sales) by WLMS Parents of 8th Graders.  The PTSA and the School Administration/Staff are not involved in organizing, running, hosting or funding this event.  IOW – without the involvement of many parents there can not be a dance.

WHO?  The Dance committee consists of parent volunteers (NEEDED) who will be giving their time and talents to ensure the night is a success and that the students are safe.  Volunteer Roles Required: Committee Lead, Finance, Decorations, Food / Venue Management, Tickets, Safety, Chaperones, Clean Up, etc.

SO?  In order for the Dance to take place an energetic, creative and committed committee must be formed ASAP – a date must be chosen immediately in order to secure a venue.  Please contact Barbara Koch (Coerced Dance Liaison) immediately to get this party started!
