Important News for Parents of LEP Students

All K-12 students in North Carolina currently designated limited English proficient (LEP) will be administered the North Carolina test of English language ability, the ACCESS.  The ACCESS annual testing window is February 3rd -March 14th, 2014. This is a very important assessment as it measures the growth of English language proficiency as students work towards mastery and exiting the classification.

There are two group tests, each one requires a proctor: Writing and Listening/Reading. Each test takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes (includes distributing materials, instructions, and actual test time). Testing the lower proficiency students will take much less time and if you only have an hour maximum, please communicate that and the schedule can be arranged.

There will only be one test administered daily from 8:45 to 10:00 beginning on Wednesday, February 5th.

Please contact the ESL teacher, Sherry Poole or on her mobile (919) 414-6557, if there is an opportunity for you to volunteer as a proctor.

Thank you so much for all you do to make West Lake Middle School excel as it meets the academic needs of all its students.
